Safety at music events focus of new program coming as part of Juno Week

Sometimes, music’s charms don’t quite soothe the savage breast.

At live concert venues with throngs of giddy fans gathered in one place, there can be risks.

The Canadian Live Music Association wants to address those issues through Raising the Bar, a training and education program that will be launched in London on March 4, just a week before the Junos, the country’s biggest music celebration.

The goal is to take the program across the country and create safer spaces at music events.

“It’s to empower live music stakeholders with some best practices and knowledge to be able to respond to any situations that might occur in their live music space,” said Erin Benjamin, the association’s president and CEO.
